I have used the Dasco #640 24 inch shingle ripper for years and recently purchased another one to give as a gift for a friend. I have found this tool extremely useful to remove and replace individual shingles without the need to remove more than the single shingle to be replaced. I highly recommend this tool as it is reasonably priced and does exactly what it was designed to do.
Fantastic quality and so easy to use. Many uses besides taking off shingles. This tool will last you a lifetime, like one I used 35-40 years ago. Thank goodness they are still around. Anyone restoring a house needs one.
This product is a time and money saver. A great helper for what it does.
Received the item quickly and in good condition. I have not used it yet, but will this spring to repair some rot I’ve found on my garage roof.
This is the first time I’ve used one of these tools, so I’m not exactly sure how it’s supposed to work.
But, from what I understand, the tool is SUPPOSED to cut the nails.
There is no way this tool could cut through anything. The hooked areas look like they’re supposed to be sharp, but are far from it.
When you hook a nail you have to beat on the tool with a heavy hammer to bend and rip the nail out of the wall.
What I think it’s supposed to do is just slice through the nail.
Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think so.
I give it more than one star simply because it IS better than nothing, even though I don’t think it works correctly.
I guess I can try to sharpen mine, but in all honesty I wish I had just spent the extra 20 – 30 bucks for a real one.
