Brand new and it leaks at the hose joint. The threads are some cheap pot metal. If you try to tighten enough to stop the leak it will strip. Even worse the thread metal will redox react with a brass hose eroding the joint. Looks good but is otherwise worthless.
I thought, because of the price, that this wand would be better than the others. Since then I bought a cheaper one that, so far, works much better. the water does not come out like rain. If you are holding it up to reach a hanging plant the water just kind of floods out of the lower holes. When you go from pot to pot, it keeps dripping even when you turn it off and are holding it up. The cheaper, Plastaire one, comes out like rain and doesn’t drip. Disappointed
Dramm makes the best watering wands available. Their key feature is the touch-n-flow handle. A full-flow design, it works easily and does not leak. This year, I did have to replace the o-ring at the base where the hose attaches, but I consider that normal wear and tear. The head is nothing special, but it works very effectively and can be removed to clear out any debris.
I shopped around and waited to get this brand, after reading the Amazon reviews. I mostly use the watering wand for my herb garden, which has a path running through it that I want to avoid getting wet. The wand delivers a strong flow without the splash. Couldn’t be happier.
This rates a 10. Doesn’t disturb the soil and waters the plants thoroughly. I would highly recommend and have been looking for something like this for a long time. It’s a go.
