Product Description
This new, unique tool enables anyone to cut Crown Molding with no math needed. Just place the tool in any inside corner or around any outside corner and:
a. the reciprocal miter saw setting will be the exact angle for the miter saw to cut a perfect miter angle.
b. the exact miter and bevel settings for compound angles will be shown in the easy to read windows for 38/52 and 45/45 degree crown slope angle moldings.
Roof Pitch measurements and layouts can be made quickly and easily; measure or layout the rise per foot and/or roof pitch by degrees. Common Rafter measurements can be made with clarity and precision; measure and layout Plumb Cuts, Heel or Level cuts and/or Pitch. To support the understanding of the workings of the tool, various diagrams are printed on the tool to illustrate its proper use. The Miter Master Plus is 1/8″ thick, 3-3/4″ wide and 16″ long. 1. This was the perfect EARLY Christmas gift for my DO IT YOURSELF husband.

Over the years he has done a lot of carpentry , building playhouses, sand boxes etc for the children as well as putting up mouldings in our home.As he says, better late than never but he would have loved having had this tool many years ago .

    Great gift idea!

  2. This is the tool I’ve been waiting for. It makes installing crown molding simple, even for me!

With the economy the way it is, it’s not only great for those who are still employed in the construction industry but also for DIY’s who want to install crown molding. The best part is, you don’t need a conversion chart or book -it’s all on the tool! It also has precise roof pitch settings. It is unbreakable (I’ve tried!)! I think with so many people out of work now,it would be great for side jobs.

    Great stocking stuffer too.

If I can use and understand this, anyone can!

  3. First, let me say I’ve been involved with residential remodeling since the early 80′, and own and operate a construction company. I’ve installed miles of crown in those years and have probably used every method to calculate the required cutting angle from just looking at the corner and setting my saw to the Bosch electronic angle finder. I’d also like to say I have no affiliation with this company, and I’ve posted virtually the same review on a construction forum so all I did was copy and past this. I don’t have that much time to type away reviews like this.

Being a quality oriented carpenter I’m a stickler when it comes to quality tools and equipment, and right off the top this is very well made from 1/8″ thick polycarbonate plastic. Yeah, plastic, but its the real strong durable stuff made in USA. Now that’s not a negative unless you are willing to pay a handsome price for a stainless steel version, (I probably would with this tool) but cost is always a major consideration when manufacturing a product for the masses.

This tool will last a very long time, even with heavy use in the field, and if simple placed back into the plastic sleeve that it comes shipped in, it will last even longer from not getting all scratched in your tool box.

It’s an excellent price for the quality given and for the time and materials that will be saved by using this tool.

You know when something is so easy to use you think you’re missing something? Well this is the tool.

Take it out of the package, open the two legs, place against and outside or inside corner and VOILA! Done! No charts, no thinking, no scratching your head. It that simple. Just transfer the numbers you see on the gauge to the saw and cut. Oh, I forgot, tighten the wing nut to lock your measurement so the legs don’t move once you remove it from the wall. And don’t kill the nut, just slightly snug. It’s a good idea to snug the nut just a bit before using so the legs will not freely move about, then take your reading and tighten the nut a little more.

Everything you need to know is clearly embossed on the legs for cutting on the flat or propped up. It’s designed for someone with no experience with the math that is involved with crown molding. Yes, even my wife can take this tool, place it against the corner and set my saw.

That’s just the molding side of this fantastic tool, the other side is designed for framing. So you get a very versatile measuring tool for the money.

I’m not for new gadgetry, especially when someone reinvents the wheel and packages it as the latest and greatest. This tool is not the case. It’s truly a unique tool that will get all the other manufactures saying “Why didn’t we think of that”

I have other methods I use to determine angles along with my experience and knowledge, but it certainly was not wasted money. It will definitely be used, even if I pass this along to a helper who needs to double check their math when doing crown or framing. But I have to tell you with all my experience I just may use this because it’s so darn easy and a big plus is NO batteries required.

This is a must buy for anyone dealing with crown, framing or any type of work that involves the same type of angles.

  4. This was a gift for my son who does finish bcarpentry work. He hasn’t wasted a piece of trim since using this tool due to wrong angles.

  5. I have to say the Miter Master Plus is well thought out especially for the Diyer. There’s diagrams on the tool legs for reference. What I like most is what ever degree setting lines up in the indicator cut out window’s is the exact Miter deg setting for any task. I really like the compound angle/bevel technology for crown molding with 45/45 or 52/38 deg spring angles. Stick the MMP in any inside or outside corner the MMP will automatically give you the exact bevel & miter settings without any compound conversion charts needed like other well known brand tools on the market. MMP is designed with 45/45 deg spring angle settings on one side of the tool. Flip MMP over the 52/38 deg settings are on the other side, this method eliminates error. The end user never has to distinguish between the two different crown spring angles. The only way the user could make an error is to look at the wrong side of the tool. Thats human error not the products.

I have used every angle/miter finder on the market including the Bosch digital protractors. If you drop a digital the calibration gets off,so it needs to be sent back to the manufacture for re-callibration. At times when I went to use the digital, the darn battery would be dead, I had to run out and purchase a new one. Depending on which crown I was using 45/45 or 52/38, I need to push the control buttons to get the correct compound angle settings. Way to much time and frustration for me.. Starrett came out with a tool 5 IN 1 thats close to the MMP. There compound angle charts are printed on a sticker adhered to the leg of the tool. The chart comes off from heat or eventually wears off. The 5 in 1 is useless for crown compound angles at that point. Sure I could go on the internet and down load a conversion chart so the tool will still work. Thats not going to happen especially after I paid $80 for it. For the price difference I would be better off getting 3 MMP tools for the price of the Starrett 5 in 1. I actually own 2 MMP tools, one I cut the legs shorter just in case theres a small corner I cant get into with the longer tool.

MMP has roof pitch deg settings on it also, along with roof pitch by deg’s and a diagram on the tool leg for end user reference for tool placement plumb or level angle.

No batterys, conversion charts, control buttons or re-calibration needed if dropped. Now that’s a sweet tool if you ask me…….

I’m not sure why the manurfacture calls MMP a 3 in 1 tool,it will accomplish way more than 3 task.

    1. Find any Miter deg setting.

    2. Find compound deg settings for 45/45 or 52/38 deg crown spring angle crown molding without any conversion charts

    3. Find acute miter angles for crown molding,trim.etc.

    4. Find any roof pitch 0 to 12/12 pitch

    5. Find roof pitch by degrees.

    6. Find existing roof pitch without a level and tape measure.

    7. Use as a angle transfer tool for siding,soffits,wood/tile flooring etc.

    8. Use as a folding framing square. ( Folds up for tool box storage ).

MMP also is also Guaranteed not to break, shatter,or crack.
