Stanley 10-989 Contractor Grade Swivel-Lock Retractable Utility Knife

Most utility knives are just utility knives. But you can’t ask for faster blade changes with the Stanley 10-989. It’s allready a classic in my books. I luv this knife and will never buy anything else.
fits my hand well, blades interchange easily, need to spray with lube for best efficiency
Over a three year period, this knife was tested by a group of 8 construction interns working for an organization building simple houses for people in need. these interns worked full-time building houses during a one-year term of service. In addition, this model of knife was frequently used by a wide variety of house construction volunteers.
This knife was consistently prized and well-liked by the construction interns for the following reasons: 1. Durable. 2. Excellent handle design gives good power when cutting, even for women with smaller hands. 3. Blade does not pull out under heavy use, unlike the Erwin Pro Touch Retractable. 4. Simple to use and to change blades. Overall, this knife was well-loved and highly recommended by this group of daily users.
Alleged “pinching” problem between halves of the knife was not noted by the interns.
I have never worn a utility knife out. In fact I’m not sure I’ve ever had one for more than a year. They always walk off when I’m not looking. I have high hopes for this knife. I’ve had one for several months now. It is far more visible than the standard grey we all have. Maybe it won’t get lost as easily. The easy blade change is nice. I don’t always have a screwdriver on hand. I have noticed that the blade retraction lever gets stuck more than others I have used. A little graphite every so often helps it out . All said ,I would buy this knife again.
This is the only knife I buy. You can change a blade in about 30 seconds, & the blade stays locked in position, unlike other ” quick change” knifes I have tried.
